SQI Group International Corporation kicked off its much-anticipated 2025 Basketball Tournament on July 19, 2025, with an electrifying opening event that brought together players, muses, admins, and supporters for a day filled with fun, passion, and team spirit!
The tournament brings together multiple teams from across the organization — including admin, warehouse staff, and logistics personnel — all geared up to showcase their athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship on the court.
The event opened with warm and heartfelt remarks from Mr. Carlos Ong, who encouraged all participants to not only compete but also enjoy the moment, create meaningful memories, and build stronger camaraderie among teams. His inspiring message set the tone for what promises to be a memorable season filled with unity and excitement.

The tournament features six dynamic teams representing different departments across the organization:
SQI ADMIN – A youthful and energetic lineup, combining fresh talent with sharp game awareness. They play with speed, focus, and a winning mindset, making them a constant threat on both offense and defense.
SQPYDO-O – A fast, agile warehouse unit that thrives on speed and quick decision-making. Their fast breaks, active defense, and never-quit mentality keep opponents constantly on edge.
HOOP DREAMS – Another talented warehouse crew, known for their team-oriented style, quick transitions, and smart positioning. They move like a well-oiled machine, proving that hard work off the court pays off in every game.
COOLOKOYS – Hailing from the warehouse, these players bring unmatched endurance and grit. Used to heavy lifting and fast-paced work, they channel that same relentless hustle and physical strength into dominating both ends of the court.
DEAD COOL – The logistics masters, cool under pressure and sharp in execution. Their steady composure, precise shooting, and calculated plays make them dangerous in close games where every possession matters.
WASTED BOYS – A seasoned and battle-tested squad with years of experience on the court. Their smart plays, composed style, and ability to control the game’s tempo make them a formidable force capable of dominating any matchup.
The enthusiastic support from admins, warehouse staff, and fellow colleagues was overwhelming — a true testament to the strong family spirit that SQI is known for. Whether cheering from the sidelines or showing up in full team colors, everyone brought the energy!

Day 1 – Game 1: SQI Admin vs. Hoop Dreams
An intense showdown with a nail-biting finish! Both teams gave their all, but in the end, SQI Warehouse Team A narrowly clinched the win with a close score of 62–60. The crowd went wild with every shot and steal, cheering loudly as the tension built to the final seconds. It was truly a game to remember!
Day 1 – Game 2: A Dominating Victory
Game 2 kept the momentum going — one team came out firing on all cylinders, delivering a commanding 70–52 victory. With seamless teamwork and aggressive play, they dominated their opponents and sent a strong message for the games ahead.
Day 2 – Game 1: A Statement Win for SQI ADMIN
In an intense and high-energy battle, SQI ADMIN secured their first victory of the tournament, pushing themselves to the limit to claim a hard-earned win. With relentless defense and sharp offensive execution, they built momentum early and never looked back — closing the game with an impressive 26-point lead.
Day 2 – Game 2: Dead Cool Outlasts Wasted Boys in a Defensive Battle
It was a clash of experience and determination as Dead Cool and Wasted Boys locked horns in a game defined by intense, unrelenting defense. Day 5 Game 1: SQPYDO-O Outruns Wasted Boys with Agility and Speed

Day 6: SQI Admin Rises, Dead Cool’s 4-0 Run Ends
Dead Cool came in hot with their 4-0 standing, dominating the first half with a strong lineup. But SQI Admin, sitting at 3-1, didn’t back down. They slowly cut the lead, found their rhythm, and pushed hard until the final minutes. In the end, SQI Admin turned the game around and handed Dead Cool their first loss of the tournament.
Semi-Finals: SQI Admin’s Clutch Comeback Knocks Out Hoop Dreams
Hoop Dreams started hot with a 10–0 run, showing no mercy early in the game. But SQI Admin refused to quit, slowly cutting the lead in a fast-paced, high-scoring battle.
With under a minute left in last quarter, Hoop Dreams led by 4, but SQI Admin came up clutch with two crucial steals, converting them into points. In a dramatic finish, SQI Admin claimed victory over the team that once beat them — proving their never-say-die spirit!
Semi-Finals: Unstoppable Dead Cool Advances to Championship Round
Both teams went all out in this do-or-die battle, thrilling the crowd with their intensity. But today belonged to Dead Cool — they dictated the pace, dominated the floor, and dismantled a tough SQPYDO-O lineup.
With a commanding victory, Dead Cool secured their spot in the finals and proved they’re a true powerhouse team.
